Quick Cleaning Tip: Giving Your Mirror a Streak-Free Shine
Mirrors, especially bathroom mirrors, can get covered in all sorts of dust, dirt, and grime. So, how do you clean a dirty mirror while ensuring it's left with a streak-free shine? Read on to find out.
The first step when cleaning a mirror is removing dust, fingerprints, toothpaste, or any other forms of grime that mar the surface. You can worry about achieving the streak-free shine later in the process. To remove the grime, simply scrub the mirror with a wet cloth. If needed, you can also use a non-abrasive cleaning agent. Never use abrasive cleaners on mirrors as they can scratch the surface.
Once the grime has been removed, dry the mirror and refocus your efforts on creating a streak-free shine. For the best results, spray the mirror with either a commercial glass cleaner or an equal-parts mixture of vinegar and water. After spraying the mirror, dry the glass with a clean microfiber cloth. The mirror should now be both clean and streak-free. If any streaks remain at this point, grab a fresh microfiber cloth and polish the glass until the remaining streaks are gone.
To help prevent the mirror from becoming dirty again in the future, try not to touch it and take a step back while using it whenever possible. Should some problem areas arise between washes, use a damp cloth to clean away any spots, then polish those sections to perfection with a dry microfiber cloth.
